Spooky season comes to an end.
Hello to all my witches, goblins, and ghosts! Maybe sending my first newsletter out on Halloween a bad omen, but we're going with it. Let's dive into the fun stuff, shall we?
Something fun to eat…
It’s soup season, the best season. One soup stands above the rest-the classic minestrone. Based on my very picky nieces and nephews who loved this when I made it, I think everyone is a fan. It’s great to take to someone who just had a baby or someone who could just use some soup. It also freezes well. And if I may make one more recommendation, I highly recommend serving it with cornbread muffins. After trying lots of recipes, none are better than a box of the cheap Jiffy’s mix with a can of creamed corn thrown in.
Something fun to listen to…
Here’s a 15-minute podcast episode that warmed my heart and I’ve been thinking about for a week.
Something fun to read…
It’s cold and dark at night, which makes me want to read something entertaining. Might I suggest a book inspired by the Taylor Swift/Tom Hiddleston romance of 2016 (this is for the girls who have been listening to “Midnight Rain” a little too much)? Or join me as I reread this very fun teen mystery series to prepare for the next book.
Something fun to watch…
People, do you realize how blessed we are to be in this brief moment in time where the two coziest shows are on TV every weekend? I’m referring to British Bakeoff and Stanley Tucci Searching for Italy. My entire week now revolves around watching the new episodes of those shows. Well anyway, when I need a laugh I watch these clips of the time one of my favorite comedians was on celebrity bakeoff. “Started baking, had a breakdown, bon appetit!”
If you are new to James Acaster, I’m also obsessed with this story and this story.
That’s all for this week!
Talk to you soon,
Moriah
